Justin just picked up
this great looking Recaro T/A two weeks ago. Seems to be mostly original
and mostly intact. 141K miles. The one big thing I noticed is the
automatic transmission in it. The VIN calls for a 4-barrel / 4-speed combo
but apparently this transmission has been swapped. Looks like it was done
pretty legit though, as there are no obvious telltale signs of
modification inside the passenger compartment. At first I thought it could
be a regular AR9 T/A with swapped seats, which could explain the
transmission, but the cowl plate clearly says AQ9, which means Recaro.
Thanks to my friend Kevin who has proven without a doubt that this car was
originally a 4-speed. There is no doubt. Anyway, other than the
transmission switch and a swapped out back seat, it's great. It could use
a little interior work and other minor things which are normal wear. Also
a bit of under-paint surface rust is starting but it's not out of control.
Pretty nice example of a Recaro. |
